Matthew Mastrangelo Team Leader, ElysiumX Team | Founder, Sigma Capital & ElysiumX Development My focus is commercial and investment real estate — acquisitions, repositioning, and portfolio growth for investors, developers, and business owners. I care less about how a property shows than about how it performs, so most of my time goes into the numbers, the assumptions behind them, and what could go wrong. I lead the ElysiumX Team, a commercial and luxury residential group licensed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. I also founded Sigma Capital, a private equity and lending firm, and ElysiumX Development, our build entity. The three work together: the team sources the deal, Sigma looks at the financing, Development handles the build. It means I can usually answer a question about capital or construction in the same conversation as the one about the property. I spent five years in the U.S. Army before this. My background is in criminal justice, and I was on the path to becoming a real estate attorney — I mentored under one, working through contracts, title, and closings from the legal side. I didn't finish that route, but it shaped how I read a deal. I tend to look at the documents before I look at the pitch. I'd rather a client walk away from the wrong deal than close it.
